Granutools is delighted to present you the Powder Flow Course given on October 4th by experst in powder flow characterization. You will be immersed into physics of powders, measurements of powder flowing properties and including hand's on training. The course is geared towards applications and process on the additive manufacturing of metal powders. Contact us via martin.laloux@granutools.com
In the manufacture of tablets, especially in direct tableting processes, the flowability of excipient powders and formulated powders is one of the most important characteristics. In the past two decades, orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) have been prepared as popular solid dosage forms for elderly patients. Many types of mannitol granules have been developed and marketed as new pharmaceutical excipients for ODTs, owing to the solubility and palatability of mannitol. Characterizing the flow...
Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was used to determine the drug concentration in 3% (w/w) acetaminophen blends within the complex flow regime of the tablet press feed frame just before tablet compaction. NIR spectra also provided valuable information on the powder flow behavior within the feed frame and were used to track when a process enters or leaves the steady state.
Excipients with good flowability, bulk density as well as compaction properties are desired for use in tableting since they play important roles in formulation development and processing, including, handling, mixing, feeding and compaction.
It is well known in industrial applications involving powders and granular materials that the relative
air humidity and the presence of electrostatic charges influence drastically the material flowing properties. The
relative air humidity induces the formation of capillary bridges and modify the grain surface conductivity.
The presence of capillary bridges produces cohesive forces.
